How can you call your made up make believe god a loving god? During Passover he killed hundreds of thousands of Egyptian children through no fault of thier own?

The simple fact of the matter is Christianity is nothing more than a bunch of rubbish fairy stories made up by an illiterate, wandering nomadic bunch of desert people to explain a world via superstition they didn't understand, and a lot of the stories were borrowed from other sources and other religions.

I mean, come on, do you really believe someone can survive in the belly of a whale? Its impossible. How about that burning bushes can talk? How often have you seen those by the side of the road? Or that some guy who got too much sun on his head, started hearing the voice of god, and so he built a boat and put two of every single species on it, to save them from a flood that encompassed the whole earth... and yet somehow preserved the massive genetic diversity that exists today? Its impossible, you'd have so much mental retardation from inbreeding? Or how about a talking snake, and who exactly did Cane and Able have sex with... their mother?

When you challenge Christians on such simple and obvious points, they retreat into the bunker of idiocy, faith. And so I like to test just how much faith they really have. I call it the Wednesday Adams test, where we play a game called... "Is there a god?"

I'll take this gun here, and point it at your head, and if your faith is true and your god is real, and a just god that actually cares about you, he will prevent any harm coming to you as I fire this bullet at your head. On the other hand, if science and reality is more concrete, this bullet probably will rip through your head and kill you. Let the test begin.

I have yet to find any Christian who has any faith in their god to actually put my test to the test. They're wishy washy faith evaporates when actually put on the spot.

You may feel and believe there is a god, because you want to, with some wishy washy emotion, but then again, you may also feel and believe like a small kid might, that if you jump off a roof and flap your arms, you can fly. Physics will deal you a harsh leason in reality, and your believe and faith will fail you.

I'm sorry, your rubbish god does not exist. I've been saying it for 30 years, and no harm has come to me, as a heathen or atheist or anarchist or otherwise.

Instead, why don't you accept your time in reality is very limited, there is nothing afterward to come, and start living it as all your moments are finite and you will eventually come to a end, and there is nothing to forgive you. And you will have to decide, when all is said and done, what do you really want to have stood for and done for the world. Instead of perpetuating lies to your children (god, the easter bunny, santa claus, angels, heaven, hell, etc)

Questionable past?
come on folks......there is no more Jew or Gentile roman or Greek...but all are in Christ....who is my brother?....he who does the will of my Father.
I know father Lazar from a long time ago. He is a total sweetheart of a person
and a hard working man. His absolution grace is unrefutably good. I felt forgiven. I like the fact that he disputed "toll houses"...that's a daffy teaching and without biblical merit. there is the issue of accounting for every word we have uttered, even in passing.....but that hardly constitutes a toll house.
scripture says we will be changed in the "twinkiling of an eye"....I am thinking that is the transfiguration of the church.....and a twinkiling of an eye hardly justifies enough time for toll houses.....I don't want to bust Mr'Rose's chops about the issue, I am sure he is a lovely person. But the church has sufficient teaching leading to salvation, without toll houses.....they are jsut a distractive side issue of theology....distracting from the true work of confession. see?.....a dispute and a dissention, about an issue of no theological significance one way or the other......but it is wrong for this reason...because it is a dispute on an issue noninstrumental to core teachings...just something to cause chaffing and disturb the peace.
and , frankly, "the price has been paid", on golgotha....no need for toll roads....

Harry Potter cometh and goeth. We might get excited for a moment and forget all about it soon after.

Although it might be a drag sometime, we keep going to the divine Liturgy, time after time, to get in touch again with the spiritual reality.

Can't wait for the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" tough! :-)

You nailed it!

I grew up in a Lutheran Church. During the time of the formation of the LCA, we left our beloved church which overnight became more liberal with new literature and pastor sent to us. We became Mo. Synod Lutherans. In college, with no Mo. Synod church in town, I became Episcopalian, which was before ordination of women.

Many confusing years later, as I searched for my "roots" God led me to Orthodoxy. It would have been a longer leap had I not had those formative years as a Lutheran/
